LOC Water Boy/ Beautiful Girl Layouts

Scrapbooking is something I have come to love - very quickly - combining it with Layers of Colour is just a sheer pleasure and has made Scrapbooking such a fabulous journey for me.  To be able to capture moments for my children, sharing my thoughts and heart (on the back of the layout) is a legacy I am wanting to give them!

I am honoured to be asked to teach a Scrapbooking Class at my local Craft Shop Scrap n Stuff - you cam imagine my delight when Websters Pages arrived on their shelves...and disappeared as quickly - a number of pages into my ready and willing hands!!

This layout is of my DS when he was little is the first Class I will be teaching - he loved water and was delighted to discover this gorgeous water feature on a holiday in Sydney.

I have added a butterfly from the Layers of Color Butterfly Collector art stamp set, layering it onto some flowers, adding some 3D Kindy Glitz and finishing off with a pearl!

I have stamped images from the Regal Wings and Royal Birds art stamp sets randomly onto the DP and added some delish vintage lace.

The next layout is of my DD2 and although she does not like this photo - it is a favourite of mine.

The delish flowers are from some RAKs, along with some more of the devine vintage lace.

The Tim Holtz Flourish goes hand in hand with the flowers and the added charm is from my friend Gunn.  I have also use some butterflies from the Butterfly Collector art stamp set, I will be adding a photos of them when I have taken some new ones.

I have matched the outline of the DP with the Spellbinders Labels 16 Nestibilitie using my Grand Calibur - the crisp clean lines are wonderful!  These have been embossed with the Textiles Embossing Folder - I love the texture that embossing adds!

You can see more of my projects in my Layers of Color Gallery, while you are there make sure you check out the other Design Team galleries there is so much inspiration waiting to be discovered, we are thrilled that Layers of Color is a Spellbinders Preferred Product Partner.

Giggle

This card was just begging to be made!  Some time ago I saw this Tim Holtz Image and could  not believe my eyes - I sent a link to My Mum and sister and we all agreed - it looks like me when I was little - how amazing is that!!

The next amazing thing was that someone sent me the image in a RAK - and it has been sitting in a pile of UFO's (unfinished objects) for over a year - until this week - all it took to get me creating was the right DP - and that had been sitting in a drawer of scraps for about the same amount of time.

An easel card worked well and the flowers are from different RAK's, along with the gorgeous vintage lace and button.

The flower is created using a combination of the Spellbinders Floral Doily Accent, misc flowers, a top from a Christmas Decoration and a pink pearl.  I have had the Christmas decoration parts for a couple of years and only just thought to use it this way - I really like the way it encompasses the pearl.

A closer look at the DIVINE lace!

I just had to show you that adorable image one more time!  LOL!  I know I am going to have to get this stamp set one day - I can think of so many ways to use it!  Just quietly, I had intended when I started making this, that it would be a Mother's Day card for my Mum, BUT I just cannot bring myself to part with it - it calls my name!  LOL!  Sorry Mum - how do you like Hallmark - LOL!  JOKING!  While we may laugh at that comment, my Mum actually reads my posts and I think I am in BIG TROUBLE!  LOL!  Love you MUM!!

This card is for the following challenges:
Gingerloft - Dies or Punches
Lets Ink It Up - Does it Punches
One Stitch at a Time - Mothers Day/Babies
Scrappy Frogs - Flowers and Lace
Sentiment Sundays - Cute and Cuddly
Craft Your Days Away - For Mum or a Special Lady
Creative Inspirations - Mothers Day/Mum
Paper Cutz - Your Choice
Simon Says Stamp - Mothers Day or Girlie

Thank you for looking and for all of the support you give me in so many ways!  As you can see I am having fun creating, trying to fill in the hours I would normally be online visiting YOU!  LOL!  I am hoping to be back visiting your Blog in another week or so - I cannot rush these things, especially when it comes to my eyes!!  I love your visits - my days would not be the same without you stopping by!  God bless you!

SSIC LOC Peacefully Pieced

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge this week is hosted today by the wonderful Lisa. who has chosen a scripture from the book of Philippians,

Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Lisa's challenge is  about a different kind of peace... piece... as in paper piecing. Use paper piecing in the main image of your card/project

I have stamped the Layers of Color Cottage Rose cling art stamp into green DP and cut around it, restamping it onto some Kraft DP and paper piecing the flower onto the stamped image.

I have also added the Brick Wall cling art stamp to the edges - this stamp is so versatile and perfect for cards or layouts - and how much do you love that divine lace - it was sent to me by a special friend and I just ADORE it - and am using it sparingly - can you blame me!
This card is for the following Challenges:
Paper Play - Distressing (I used ink)
Crafts and Me - Anything Goes
Scrapbook Sisters - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Mother's Day/Girlie
Paper Take Weekly - It's a Mom Thing/ or Just be Girlie

LOC Shabby Boutique

Hello - it is great to see you today.  I have a very quick card to show you today, using some of those 'ever growing' scraps!  I created this card some time ago so I had some projects to post while I am recovering from my eye surgery!  Thank you all once again for your lovely messages and comments on my Blog - I am doing really well and will be back on all cylinders very soon - but in the meantime.....

I have coloured the Layers of Color Merci Bouquet art stamp set with SU Chalks and a Blender Pen - this is a very easy image to colour and always makes a pretty card - now that has to be good!  LOL!

I have cut ir out using my Spellbinders Grand Calibur and the Labels 14 - I have  cut two different sizes and popped the image up onto the largest one with foam tape.  I have to wonder what I did before Nesties - they certainly make card making easy - my Wish List just keeps growing - I am sure you know the feeling!

Some lace and pearls and it is finished - it doesn't get much easier than that!!

You can see more of my projects in my Layers of Color Gallery, while you are there make sure you check out the other Design Team galleries there is so much inspiration waiting to be discovered, we are thrilled that Layers of Color is a Spellbinders Preferred Product Partner.

Card Design Class and A Little Bit of News

I have a date for my next Classes at the local Craft Shop - Scrap'n'Stuff and thought it was time to show you!  Each week I am endeavouring to make sure that one of the cards is a different style, to keep it interesting - it is also keeping my on my toes!  LOL!

I have chosen to tackle the 'Dreaded Man Card I am not sure why we find these so hard but so many of us do - so I thought a Pocket card would be perfect!

I have used the Keys Stamp from my stash for the main image and added the sentiment from Layers of Color Happy Wishes art stamp set

The side panel is embossed with the Fleur de Lis Embossing Folder.

You can see the fabulous font on the sentiment from the Layers of Color Happy Wishes art stamp set.

The second card is one I have created before and has been so popular that I had to create it again - not only that, I know that the ladies are going to fall in love with the divine Layers of Color Flutterescent art stamp set - most of you would know that this is a favourite of mine - I just keep gravitating to it when it comes to creating with butterflies!

LOC Happy Birthday and Blogger Pay It Forward 2011

It is a run of birthday's in our house from February to April and I love making cards for my family - the one I find hardest is my eldest daughters as she is not a 'girly girl', but is feminine and it not that fussed on handmade (arghhhhh! LOL) So I always have to stretch myself when it comes to her card!!

I was inspired when I received a special package through the post and it was full of crafting delights - sheets of gorgeous GRUNGE BOARD being among them - so my dilemma was over!!  As you can tell, she was turning 15.

I sprayed the numbers with Tattered Angela Glimmer Mist in Sand - a couple of coats brought it up beautifully, and sponged the edges with Tim Holtz Distressing Inks in Faded Denim - the pattern in the grunge board came up beautifully.

The Layers of Color Regal Wings art stamp set worked beautifully with the gorgeous rose, also part of a RAK from my dear friend and MMSC DT Sistah Gunn.  The wings have been lightly coloured with SU Chalks and then had some 3D Kindy Glitz added for the shimmer and texture - I LOVE this stuff!

I have added the sentiment from the Happy Wishes art stamp set - I love how interchangeable these images are and the different fonts in the set - perfect for every occasion!.  Three large blue bling finish this off!  This card came together, or rather evolved so easily - you have to love that!!

I am linking this to the following challenges:
Crafty Cardmakers - Special Birthday
Make It Monday - Anything Goes
There's Magic in the Air - Vintage Card or Tag
A Gem of a Challenge - Anything But Square
The Crazy Challenge - Any Shape But Square

Thrilling Thursday - Show Us What You Got

Before you go, I have to share this wonderful Event with you!!

The whole concept of paying it forward is one that I love - I have actually been the recipient of a 'Pay It Forward' that enabled me to do a 'mercy dash' home to New Zealand and be there at my beautiful Nana' s bed as she 'went home'  I am eternally grateful to the person who was also paying it forward - and was thrilled some time later to be able to do a similar thing for someone - so this has my full attention.

when I came across Abby's Blog Little Birdie Blessings . Abby had a post about a "Blogger Pay it Forward" and had my attention straight away - I just happen to LOVE that movie- it is one of the few I own - I am so moved each time I watch it and always cry at the same place each time!

Thank you Abby for the inspiration and for allowing me to be part of this wonderful event - How does it work - the first five people who comment on this blog post will receive a handmade gift from me. In return, you must FIRST write a blog post explaining "Pay it Forward 2011". Then... send out a handmade gift to the first 5 visitors who leave a comment on your post.

To quote Abby "Take your time.. you don't need to send them all today or tomorrow. This is such a sweet way to connect with friends or meet new ones, by sharing things we create with our hearts.  It's not the size of the gift that matters, but the spirit of paying it forward."

You can see more of my projects in my Layers of Color Gallery, while you are there make sure you check out the other Design Team galleries there is so much inspiration waiting to be discovered, we are thrilled that Layers of Color is a Spellbinders Preferred Stamp Company
